    • 0:54 *Playing Merge Games*

    • Kurzgesagt - In a Nutshell what if we genetically modified plants to break down plastic

    • Sheeple do your own research and live your own life and stop arguing with each other, be open minded and trade facts not argue. No one else cares if your eating GMOs or organic its your life do what the fuck you want!Me personally organic is the way forward i mean we have become that brainwashed and away from nature that we actually think GMOs are good well look at the rising rates of cancers and other dietary illnesses caused by carcinogenic chemicals used to fertilize and pesticide the crops but this is just one of many points on the AGENDA

    • Kurzgesagt - In a Nutshell make a video bout how the food industry changed in last 50 years

    • Kurzgesagt - In a Nutshell I gotta say, it’s great that you posted sources. That’s part of why I like this channel so much

  • GMO's are good. There, i saved you 9 minutes. I had to sacrifice 8 minutes and 36 seconds though to give you this information.

  • The genome of a single organism and how it functions is like an entire universe to mess with. You might change one little thing here and there with no immediate problem, but what about 20, 50, or 500+ years down the road? I think GMO's are necessary for our growing population but I hope someone soon finds a much more careful and effective way to produce more without tinkering with the mystery of life until we know wayyyy more than we do now.

    • Idiotic activist lie nonsense. There is NO TIME DELAYED BOOGEYMAN, PERIOD. It is incredibly arrogant of you and also ignorant to post as though nobody understands genetics and no safety testing is done. Stop insulting our hard working farmers and scientists. It is NOT A MYSTERY to highly educated geneticists. They are now ready to create variations on existing life in ways you can't even grasp. We know within 30 minutes to 4 hours when we eat something bad. End of story.

  • This video is obviously paid for by the propoganda and marketing disinformation campaign of the GMO lobby. All of the so-called discussion points in the video are misleading in the extreme, minimising the obvious difference between the "natural" world that normal healthy organic food is part of, as a planetary ecosystem of interactive organisms and life-system that took at least 4 billion years to evolve on planet earth. GMOs are not part of that natural evolution of life-giving food sources. GMOS are created using viral, bacterial and other toxicogenic agents in order to break down DNA and RNA sequences, some of the strongest bonds in the universe. That therefore means that GMOs are created to destroy life and are therefore unable to be properly digested within the gut of any organism human or otherwise that attempts to ingest the GMOs. This in turn therefore causes a stress reaction and inflammatory condition, which can lead to auto-immune diseases, or even cancers as have been recorded in scientific tests feeding GMOS to rats in laboratory studies for example. GMOs are not part of a healthy diet, since they are not part of the conventional food-chain of the natural ecosystem that evolved on this planet. GMOs are created by profit seeking military industrial complex interests, whose only interest is profit at the cost of life on this planet above all else. Be warned, and don't believe the hype.

    • +liliapatterson --Your work history should have taught you that claims without evidence can be dismissed without evidence. You puke up claims then tell us to do our own research. And to think you call yourself an adult with a brain.

    • +Popeye Gordon --Blubbering perfectly describes the whining they do Pop.

    • Many organic seeds are created by nuclear radiation mutagenesis. Yup, that's natural alright......

    • +liliapatterson You fool! You are so poorly educated you don't even realize that all broccoli, cauliflower, kale, cabbage, Brussels sprouts and turnips are profoundly UNNATURAL, having all bee bred by the hand of man from one common ancestral mustard plant. And you have the fucking nerve to challenge others more educated as you simultaneously blather incoherently! You have to admit you also refuse to eat any but the original "natural" 2 inch long bitter white roots from which we bred all carrot varieties as well. You then lied by claiming to wish me best regards while uttering malicious anti-science lies out the other side of your mouth.

  • GMO or OMG hahahaha very funny

  • Why this video has got 43 subtitles? If choose to poison your children, that is your business, but please don't contaminate whole world with your idiocy.

    • +Duke Steele Yeah appart from not poisonning the earth and yourself. I'll agree that a lot of organic food's dodgy as fuck, as the industry has been surfing on the hype to push out industrial organic tight-packed in ungodly ammounts of plastic, but not all organic is industrial, and overall it'll allways be healthier for you and the planet's wildlife to eat organic.

    • +Loic Deniel --Loic, organic is a marketing scam. There are almost no benefits.

  • Thanks for helping me with my project on GMOs !

  • Poor insects.

    • No. Those very specific farm pests would literally starve the human race to death if left unchecked. Poor uneducated DE-tv viewers......

  • you forgot to mention that the video is SPONSORED BY MONSANTO !

  • can we modify the taste of food?

    • +Popeye Gordon I'm french mate, here we know a thing or two about the importance of a soil in taste ;) (in case ou did not get that, think 'wine') Though i'll agree with you that picking a fruit before it is ripe definitelly is a factor. As for lemons and bananas, i was talking theorically here. Some particular molecules give them (most of) their tastes (isoamyl acetate for banana, and lemonene, for lemon, obviously) We could easily find the genes behind their production and implant them on another crop is what i said here.

    • +Loic Deniel No single factor has more effect on flavor and aroma than picking the fruit or produce before completely ripe. There are no GMO lemons or bananas at this time.

    • You never heard of salt and pepper?

    • sure, making it taste "better" is not easy as it mostly depends on the soil on which the plant grows and ratio of water being used, but you can add particular types of tastes associated with given molecules to obtain the "main taste element" of a given fruit like lemon or banana for example.

  • I ate the purple tomato that my dad took from his work, its also more tasty

    • +Popeye Gordon maybe, but not too much

    • +Thomas Itkin You just contradicted yourself. Either you don't like tomatoes or you do. What you poorly attempted to convey is that you prefer alternate breeds of tomatoes, it may have been a low acid tomato and still, you would not have liked it if it was not perfectly ripened in the vine. Purple in itself has no flavor.

    • +Popeye Gordon no i actually dont like tomato and it was pretty good

    • All produce of every sort is more tasty when picked at the moment of peak ripeness.

  • Dragon Ball Easter Egg at 1:33 (IT'S OVER 9000!!!)

  • Let's save our biosphere by killing all the people & get rich by doing it! I have been doing tons of research from other countries that are open to the truth & science investigation in the matter. I have concluded that YOU are a government troll who must be paid to feed us this BS & the US is suppressing the facts about GMO foods from its citizens & you are what you eat. Also, anyone thinking that there is no common sense & "you don't have the degrees so we will decide what you need to know" better wake up & smell the GMO! Also, the main reason for GMO foods is they resist Round-up in the food just before harvest & is extremely BAD for humans! Do any of you or know someone that have stomach or intestinal problems & Dr.s can't seem to find out why! Sleeping problems? These are the main causes. Know any dogs that just stopped eating pop-corn? Gee, I wonder why?

    • +Popeye Gordon Hey i'll give you that he's not the brightest folk, but really mate, why do you have to be so obnoxious? Do you really think that you'll convey any idea to him by talking like that? You sound even more unhinged than he does.

    • Popcorn is not GMO you blathering idiot!

    • Hey moron - there would never be a reason to spray glyphosate on resistant crops late in the growth cycle. It is only used for drying before harvest on crops that are NOT glyphosate tolerant like oats and wheat, in order to kill the plants so their grains will not rot in silos by being too wet at harvest. NOTHING IS "SUPPRESSED" NOT ONE SINGLE WORD OR FACT IS HIDDEN IN ANY WAY YOU IGNORANT CONSPIRATARD!!

  • I think that it's better to have different kinds of pestisides and herbisides being used by different farmers randomly distributed than having the same pestiside or herbiside used by all farmers because it distributes both the sources of harm as well as the sources of benefit as opposed to having one big source of harm and benefit which can create an all or nothing type situation.

    • Thank goodness FDA and EPA testing of foods no longer finds dangerous levels of Atrazine, paraquat, DDT, fludioxonil, metolaclor, acephate and diazinon. Now they find minute traces of the least toxic herbicide ever formulated, glyphosate, which is 43% less toxic than table salt, and Bt, so non-toxic that organic farmers rely on it heavily. WHAT A DRAMATIC IMPROVEMENT!!!! Anti-GMO idiots claim they want to go back to that nightmare list of much more toxic pesticides. Why???? I can't imagine.

  • 5:45 how did farmers got sick.?

    • They got sick from the poor methods used to spray pesticides. With the Bt technology it eliminates those pesticides. That is great news.

  • People want to believe that GMOs are good for you. But they are changing our DNA & no one knows how! But when France/Britain educated themselves in a Court by an actual real scientist who did the studies in GMO foods. They found that we are what we eat & if you alter the DNA of food you will in FACT alter the DNA of humanity! The Court through the pro-GMO scientist out & threatening to sue the very life out of him. France & Britain is now a non GMO

    • +Popeye Gordon actually maybe you were a monkey & maybe you still are! I never was. I have several degrees (6 & growing but who's counting). If you just did a little research you would find out what is going on & the truth behind it. Whenever there is a controversy there is always money behind it on one side. Do you really think that the industry who benefits in so many ways & all amount to billions, are going to tell you their food is not good for you? Of course not! Do you think they are going to allow any scientists to stand up & present scientific evidence proving eating genetically altered food has the potential to & eventually will change the DNA in humans? It does all the time & always has as do other things like viruses ect. Why don't you study what takes place in your body when you eat food clear down to the chemical reactions & how your body absorbs what it eats. Then you will know as many do. Why don't you look at how they've covered it UP in America but the science ISS allowed to testify in some other countries & has a big say. & just WHO in the FDA has approved GMOs & their connections to the food industry & how they benefit. Then you'll start to see just what is going on. Why would you believe any organization that has billions or trillions of dollars to push what ever they want? Much science is suppressed in America because of this. It's called Academia & they have the Only say in what goes & what don't. (unless there is a big demand for more research). YOU are the one that is the problem in America! You just believe what they tell you instead of educating yourself on issues. The truth has all been released in articles at one time or another but has beed covered over & washed away. But it's there, by actual science! Try research the news & science news in other countries & see what goes on over there & what they say about this & other issues in America. You will learn the low man in America does not have all the facts most of the time.

    • You idiot, obviously you did not get a grade school education, they would explain exactly why tat is impossible. We have always eaten DNA ever since we were monkeys. If there was any possibility of it affecting our own genes after being dissolved in stomach acids the human race could never have evolved! You are profoundly science illiterate and an embarrassment to your family and our education system. Please for the love of god GO BACK TO SCHOOL for remedial education!!!

    • GMO crops do not change our DNA. If you are speaking of Seralini the Court did not make a ruling one the science whatsoever. France and Britain nor the EU is non-GMO. France, Britain, and the EU import millions of tons of GMO crops and 4 EU countries grow GMO maize.

  • You are. Literally what you eat! If you change the DNA of what we & animals eat you are in fact changing the human DNA! This is a fact & there is NO argument against it. But no scientific study on how it will change us! What will we become? Why are the people in the US more than twice as sick since GMO foods went on the market! WHY? Autism, sudden onset Diabetes type-1, stomach/intestinal problems have trippled, pain through out the body of so many Americans, & obesity all have gone way WAY up since GMOs came out! I'll tell you why:it's common sense & we don't need a scientist to figure it out. It's all about $$$ & greed. They are making us sick for profit from food & the medical industry! An entire family became sick w 21 terrible illnesses to include extreme autism in 1 boy. They switched to all organic food & after 2yrs the family got better. The autistic bit is now normal gets straight A's & plays the clarinet!

    • +Loic Deniel --Right on.

    • i'm against GMO, but what you are saying is pure fuckin' nonsense. You're not changing your DNA by eating GMO crops. Just as you're not changing your DNA when eating regular crops. Read a book.

  • If GMO is not worse for you than non-GMO then explain why people who are sick & switching to NON-GMO get better?!

    • +Corey Scott --Lots of glyphosate would be "extremely bad" for humans, but the levels we are exposed to less than tiny levels which are not harmful. Plus, glyphosate does not build up in the body, it is excreted. No it is not true that switching to a non-GMO diet made anyone better and I see that you have no credible evidence either.

    • Actually this is true! Do any of you or know someone that have stomach or intestinal problems & Dr.s can't seem to find out why! Sleeping problems? These are the main causes. Know any dogs that just stopped eating pop-corn? Gee, I wonder why?

    • That is false.

  • Anyone notice a bird in the red ball in the intro

  • Thing is, herbicide resistance appears naturally, and can thus be introduced into a plant without genetic engineering, but with methods that even the EU court of justice deemed safe. So, it's not a problem specific to GMO. Don't get me wrong, all these problems are valid concerns, they are just not specific to GMO crops. Thinking they are only a problem because of transgenics and gene editing, is a mistake. The method of breeding should not be the concern. We need to check for the actual outcomes, instead, regardless of how the plant was made. This would allow to de-regulate GMO development to a point where publicly funded laboratories can create safe plants for the common good (instead of profit driven), and have them approved. Right now, only the largest companies can afford to invest in having GMOs approved for the market. And since it's so expensive and they must make a profit, the common good is a secondary concern to them, profit the primary concern.

    • +Popeye Gordon Well congrats to being so American. I'm talking from an EU perspective, and all those nice GMOs you have are illegal, here.

    • +Dennis Eckmeier You are way off base here. Half of all GMOs being developed and distributed today are free and entirely non-profit, from NGOs and government seed programs. But there is never any intrinsic issue with profit as a motive, that is absurd. Name three non-profit farmers or seed companies. I have asked over 100 anti-science trolls this question and never get an answer. The US patent system has allowed us to become the richest most powerful country on Earth. Without a profit motive and a way to protect investments in new products you would still be using a dial phone and you never would have heard of a computer. Golden rice was never 'dropped', it was donated. After many years the first 5 countries approved importing the seed in 2018. There will be no profit taking from GR2E except by poor farmers if they have some left over to sell. It is illegal for governments or companies to profit off of it.

    • Monsanto and mainly Syngenta donated the tech for GR. GR is ready (GR2R) but the anti's still fight it by raising hell with politicians. Just like the internet it took private concerns to bring it to fruition.

    • +Duke Steele All methods of mutagenesis, transgenesis, and Gene editing are products of publicly funded research. Many of the praised examples of GMO crops originated from publicly funded labs, too, before they were picked up for production by private industry. This will be the case in future, too. So, I agree that private industry plays a big role. It's, however, still true that private industry is driven by profit. Famous example is golden rice which was, to my knowledge, dropped by private industry, and public funds are now used to continue the work. Also, your last sentence simply confirms what I said. Companies need to consider their bottom line when investing in a product.

  • Fantastic video.

  • Do GMO’s have anything to do with the bee problem?

    • +Popeye Gordon I'm not making up lies for god sake... And you clearly don't understand anything about chemistry. Proteins aren't harmless. Some are to us (and not necessarilly to other species), some aren't. Some of the worst neurotoxins on earth are proteins. Ricine is a protein for example. Ever eard of it? One of the deadliest poison on earth. Cholera and parkinson's disease harm our body by producing toxic proteins. So does the mad-cow disease. Stop the falacious "it's not a toxin it's a protein" argument and open a god damn fucking book. Above that, a protein's toxicity does not depend on which protein it is, it depends of the mechanism it's going to be exposed to. Hence why this works on these worms but not on us. Hence why it might impact other life-forms, which we cannot know without the data.

    • +Loic Deniel There are no "GMO induced toxins". Again you are making up malicious lies. Bt is the only thing closed to a toxin but it is simply a reproduced protein that is already widely present in soil bacteria Bacillus theuringensis. Hot peppers emit and are packed full of a nasty toxin we also call tear gas. Unlike Bt, that actually does affect much more than one species of borer worm. It is a highly savored toxin humans love.

  • I wish the world was covered with GMOS

    • No. We need forests and jungles for biodiversity and maximum carbon storage. But GMO crops require less acreage thus leaving more forest untouched.

  • 1:31 *insert Vegeta screaming meme*

  • You know who are Monsanto best allies? the Green Hippies, they prevent other GMOs companies to rise and make competition so Monsanto can keep their monopoly and force any practice they want, if you want to stop "evil" GMOs the way to do it is by producing "good" GMOs, not by blocking the development of competition Or try to grow your own food and see how much we have to rely on the industry to actually be able to eat

    • +GinHindew110 Fuck you ignorant asshole!!! Liar!!! All Monsanto CEOs are unemployed, all Monsanto US workers are out of a job, all Monsanto offices are vacant and for rent you ignorant anti-science scumbag. Only the brand names were retained by Bayer.

    • +GinHindew110 --DE-tv Farmers say the darndest things: 1) " instead of using tons of herbicide to protect a herbicide-resistant crop why not to make a plant that can feed on a specific fertilizer and then using less herbicide as the regular weeds would be less nourished" 2) "or having a tree grafted with crops altered to be parasitical and then super fertilizing the main tree to feed the crops in a weed-free environment" 3) "or making weeds that are more edible by cattle to avoid the weed problem altogether" Bwwaaaahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

    • +Popeye Gordon you dense motherfucker... Monsanto AS A BRAND is "dead" but all its departments still exist under Bayer´s name, the company was just brought out by a larger company and got a layer of make up and "bad" GMOs are those that can be replaced by better options, e.g. instead of using tons of herbicide to protect a herbicide-resistant crop why not to make a plant that can feed on a specific fertilizer and then using less herbicide as the regular weeds would be less nourished or having a tree grafted with crops altered to be parasitical and then super fertilizing the main tree to feed the crops in a weed-free environment or making weeds that are more edible by cattle to avoid the weed problem altogether *just because they are legal GMos it doesnt mean there is not a better possibility,* or it would be easier for better and better options to be available if there were more companies producing GMOs, my point (as you obviously need the info spoon fed, genius) is that competition generates options, but green hippies stop competition because "GMO is non natural" thus leaving that-brand-of-Bayer-that-produces-GMOs as the only option

    • You are an idiot. Monsanto went out of business over a year ago. All GMOs are good, there are no evil ones because they would never be approved. They are never approved after extensive testing unless they are good. Ignorance is bad. The average US farm now feeds 124 people. Just 100 years ago that number was 4. We have been freed from a need to grow our own so that society and technology and medical science may advance. No space exploration of any kind ever could have happened without advances in crop science first.

  • Farming non-GMO plants can be affected by other farmers who do use GMOs. Aparently GMO producers sue farmers for using their pattented DNA if it unintentionally ends up in their crops even if they didn't want them there. This argues for government confiscation of GMO pattents using eminent domain or some other device like declaration of national emergency.

    • +Stanislav Mudrets --Ok Stanislav, not a single GMO producer has ever filed such a lawsuit. It has never happened. The only lawsuits GMO producers have filed are for stealing patented seeds and violating the contrat.

    • +Duke Steele Not a single one has never filed? Double negative or a positive? I read this elsewhere.

    • "Aparently GMO producers sue farmers for using their pattented DNA if it unintentionally ends up in their crops even if they didn't want them there." Stanislav, I'm sorry but not a single GMO producer has never filed such a lawsuit.

  • Someone: So what do you want to do with your life? Me after watching this video: GM CROPS THAT IS WHAT I WANT TO DO

    • Yes! 500,000 US farmers, trying to feed their families and not lose their heavily financed farms, do exactly that. They know that a 50% premium price for GMO seed greatly increases the chances of a profitable crop each year, weather permitting. It reduces losses to pests or drought and requires less pesticides and fuel.

  • Convince my mom

    • Those that have been subject to 25 years of hearing "frankenfood" and organic screamer sites howling about GMO's find it difficult to even listen.

  • thanks for mentioning bangladesh

  • 8:10, ..... or we simply do not waste a huge part of the food we are producing every day.

    • That makes no difference to the many regions where war is using starvation as a weapon. And in extremely poor remote regions where that 'wasted' food could never be shipped to.. For them, dealing with population growth, rapidly deteriorating weather conditions and drought means GMO or die.

  • Or stop eating meat and breeding like bedbugs

  • This made me understand more about gmos haha. Thanks a lot!

    • Making fun of the video makes you an idiot.

  • what about glyphosate

    • What about the least toxic herbicide ever formulated? Thank goodness FDA and EPA testing of foods no longer finds dangerous levels of Atrazine, paraquat, DDT, fludioxonil, metolaclor, acephate and diazinon.

  • You guys fail to mention the risks that pesticides still pose on humans. While the pesticides are not lethal to us as they are to the organisms they are designed for, they have still been found to act as endocrine disruptors in humans, etc.

    • +Popeye Gordon link to the paper you just referenced?

  • Anybody, how to pronounce name of this channel pls😐 help

  • Fuck greenpeace

    • More importantly fuck genetic illiteracy, that is what is behind all activists.

    • Yes.

  • 4:00 I feel bad for the dog 1 like = 10 genetically modified dogs that can eat chocolate

  • good gmo!

  • I'm genuinely asking; isn't one risk that GMOs have a lack genetic variety? So if all of one type of plant is made the same, all it takes is a virus, bacteria, etc., to wipe it all out? And if 90% of cash crops are GMO, that sounds dangerous. I've heard that is happening to the banana.

    • +Popeye Gordon --Bravo. Glad to pitch in and pick up pearls from your comments. Join in at GMOLOL on facebook too.

    • +Duke Steele I have accrued over 100,000 comments in defense of science truth over the last 6 years, more on Disqus than here. I appreciate your help. There are more lies than facts on DE-tv.

    • +Popeye Gordon --Excellent stuff Popeye.

  • Warum ist das nicht auf Deutsch

  • I love your videos I really want to become a patron but I’m 13 and don’t have any money but I hope some love work

  • In the Netherlands there is currently research about mass mortality of insects. It is not sure why it happened but if anti-insect measures like this could lead to such changes then im not so sure about these developments. What do you guys think? I think it would be a solution if they changed the crops not to attract insects instead of killing them because mass mortality could lead to a chain reaction with various negative results.

    • +Rmecro The mechanism by which some commodity drops repel insects is the Bt protein toxin. Without it millions of acres of crops would be lost in just one week and we would have a national crop emergency, the largest one in all human history. It is far too expensive to grow, process and spray a million gallons of teargas (hot pepper juice) when a far better and safer and precisely targeted effect is achieved by the Bt toxin.

    • +Popeye Gordon I am not saying GMO's are bad and my intention was not to spread hate, I just want to point out that scientists should look for other options than killing insects. If plants are able to attract certain insects it would also be possible to repel them. Spices for instance are used in organic agriculture to repel insects so there certainly are ways. Anyways thank you for commenting!

    • +Popeye Gordon As for the "loosing shill gambit", there's enough that point towards it. No hard proof, but come on. I've seen your web activity, you spam GMO/glyphosate/monsanto related videos. You claimed yourself having written over 100 000 messages in the last 6 years on multiple plateforms (why would you track that number if not for commercial purposes?). You're gonna tell me that you write 50 messages a day on GMO since six years but don't even get paid for it? That'd be at least 4hours a day, and i'm being generous there. You'd have to be unemployed otherwise, or spend all of your off-time doing just that... Please drop the mask there's no use for it.

  • I’d love a birdy

  • This is my favorite channel ever

  • Why am I craving salad rn?

  • Tell us about carbon nanotubes

    • No. This video and page is about GMO foods. Did you really think the producers read comments for requests 18 months after posting the video?

  • 8:53, zapdos next to red bird.

  • 218k smart people liked this video

    • +izdraw bad 218,000 DE-tv viewers. The up and down votes are always listed directly under the video.

    • Who liked this

  • I agree 100% that GMOs are not all completely bad. The video makes that clear, so some of the backlash is definitely unwarranted. But there is one problem in the video that I don't see many people talking about, starting at 4:25. Round-Up resistant GM crops have allowed farmers to use 100x more glyphosate in volume and frequency on conventional crops since the 70s. This means if your food is one of these GM crops AND grown conventionally, you are most likely consuming excessive amounts of glyphosate. Glyphosate disrupts your gut bacteria, which is thought to be important to your overall health. Some may argue that the amount is still small, but don't forget you're eating multiple times per day, every single day of your life. Even the slightest chance that this can cause long term issues is worth me shelling out an extra $30 week at the grocery store

  • good work that must be hard

  • I need to show my mom this video.

  • It is good.

  • You are the best!

  • they're bad. Period.

  • Hahaha Monsanto Pay this video... Monsanto never lose...

    • Popeye Gordon Nice! Good for you ;).

    • +DezFuzer-.! MggtDka Yes I call out fuktards like you ten times a day. Ready to do it again if you want to post more idiotic conspiracy theories.

    • Popeye Gordon Good Argument Motherfucker Hahahaha KID.

    • +DezFuzer-.! MggtDka No you are a conspiratard. All Monsanto CEOs are gone, all US Monsanto workers were laid off, all Monsanto offices have been shut down and are for rent now. Bayer only kept the brand names of most products. Your conspiracy theory ignorance only humiliates you. The video shows no such "controlling hand" you ignorant lying motherfucker.

    • +DezFuzer-.! MggtDka There are many companies even foreign companies producing and selling gmo technology seed. Even after purchasing Monsanto Bayer is still not number 1 in gmo technology seed sales. Now who do you claim paid for this video Dezfuzer?

  • look up nanobots

  • GMO and cloning technologies are allowed by God of the Bible on plants and animals to feed humans. Please read Genesis how it was given to Adam, the first human, to propagate the agricultural produce. I think going beyond that is unbiblical like human cloning and human genetic manipulation to cure or manage diseases or for vanity reasons.

    • There is no god. You are extremely superstitious and frightened by your mortality.

  • plants get so smart and overthrow us? why is nobody concerned about this?

  • I'm not against GMO, I'm against the fucking greed of the GMO Corporations producers. They spend 1.000.000 dollars investigating and they want a trillion of benefit. Nice in Bangladesh? What about the thousands of farmers who have killed themselves because of their fucking debts with GMO's producers? If GMO thech was free I'd agree with you. The problems are not the GMO techs, the evil problem is your business model and laws protecting big corporations greedy profits. If your tech is so good, why US agriculture can't survive without government subsidies? You're taking tax payers money! Here in Europe GMO are banned! Take your disgusting agricultural model to the American sheeps. Your corporations are not as powerful like there.

    • The suicide stories because of GMO's are false Gusatvo. Europe does not ban GMO's as 4 EU countries grow GM maize and the EU imports millions of tons of GM crops each year. Bangladesh is pioneering Bt brinjal and their farmers love it. Regards.

  • Fuck GMO and GMC

    • Fuck your genetic illiteracy. We need less ignorance, not more.

  • So tired of hearing people complain of the “deadly effects “of gmos. I get really annoyed when they bring up that stupid movie, GMO OMG. Just cause it calls itself a documentary, does not mean it is unbiased.

  • Seriously one of the best channels I've subscribed to.

  • 5:10 Nice robocop reference

  • Why don't we make better vegetables

    • We have constantly improved all foods we eat for over 10,000 years. Now, organic farmer groups are spreading lies to stop the improvement of vegetables.

  • Wow! Thanks for the research/work on this.

  • A common meme we all hear if we are exposed to lying activist sites and videos is that the Monsanto boogeyman and "corporations" want to "control the world's seed supply". Let's ponder that for a moment which is all it takes to realize how absurd and ignorant that meme really is. All the corporate seed companies combined comprise less than 20% of our global seed supply. A partial list of the plethora of supply sources they can never touch: free NGO and government run seed programs, seed banks and vaults, seed exchanges, seed libraries, neighbors swapping seed, farm granges, online seed sales, small local farm supply stores, gardening supply stores, collecting seed from wild sources, countries like Mexico where GMO seed is rejected, China with its own GMO and conventional seed programs, Asshole Russia with their anti-GMO troll armies, seed saving practices, remote villages who never have and never will buy seed, and mountain terrace farmers at the ends of 200 kilometer long foot paths in mountainous regions of three continents. Are corporate seed sellers going to march jack booted thugs up those paths with packs full of seed they will force the remote villages to buy?? Myth busted!

  • Number of people or animals killed by GMO food worldwide: 0 Number of people who got sick from GMO foods worldwide: 0 Number of global catastrophes caused by GMOs: 0

  • hate those idiots who say it's not natural, and let millions of helpless children starve to death

  • Two words Hawaiian papaya

  • Fear is the greatest enemy; knowledge the greatest ally. Do not fear what you do not understand. Learn.

  • it gets me horny when people cite their sources

  • I especially love all GMO foods. Monsanto is the President of GMO foods and just like President Trump, they only tell the truth.

    • +David Adcock "your post is garbage etc..." -Yet you fail to provide a counter argument. Risk assessment is too limited to be certain of the outcome. Any GMO plant which has been modified to synthesize a given substance can potentially harm it's environement and consumers. "what about agent orange etc..." - Simply has been brought up as popeye kept putting back monsanto on the table. No ignorance from my part there. Or tell me what i said that wasen't true. "Is glyphosate the only word you know? etc..." -Glyphosate is the main GMO associated herbicide. IIRC it is used in over 80% of GMO cultures. Again, mainly associated with monsanto which has been brought up in the discussion. It is definitelly not "safer than pesticides organic grower use", for once, it's an herbicide, not a pesticide. Secondly, if you grow organic food you don't use neither pesticide nor herbicide. That's the whole point of organic food... Third, glyphosate provokes DNA damage and impairs DNA repairing mechanisms. Few herbicides/pesticides can say the same, as mutagenes are banned from use (for obvious reasons). it is only still on the market due to intensive lobbying, which in itself is an insult to science. "Is monsanto the only word you know?" Wait, i thought glyphosate was the only word i knew, what's happening mate? More seriously i'm getting tired of talking about it. I've been asking you and popeye to give me a proper counter-argument concerning risk-assessment but you both kept on bringing back monsanto on the table for whatever reason. Anyway yet again you don't counter argument, your debating tactics rely on red herring, falacies, ad-hominem and worst of all, what-aboutism. I'm starting to suspect that both accounts (david and popeye) are yours. I'm going to try to help you... How is using GMO that synthesize toxins safe? How can you be sure that a protein that is toxic for the digestive system of a worm won't be compatible with some of the building blocks of the nerv system of a bee, being incorporated instead of another protein, provoking disfunctions in their path-finding mechanisms getting more and more important with accumulation? (i'm taking this precise scenario for a reason, that's what's happening to bees all over the world and we don't know the reason. I'm not claiming that this is the reason at all, i'm saying that this is the kind of consequences that we cannot forsee with our curent technological advancement) And to the same extent, how can you be sure that this protein won't do the same with a human cell? That's not far-fetched at all, that's how most toxins work, they take the place of another element in a cell and modify it's behavior, which is the equivalent of raming a steel rod into a finelly tuned gear mechanism. And again, no study will do a per-cell evaluation taking in account every of the 200+ human cells and their subtypes. Answer to that, tell me how you can be so sure that GMOs are risk-free.

    • +Loic Deniel Your post is garbage and shows your true ignorance on this subject with lack of answers to the simple questions. What does your ignorance on Agent Orange have to do with GMO technology? Is glyphosate the only word you know when it comes to the many many many many many herbicides a farmer could choose to use on gmo technology crops? Glyphosate is even safer than many of the pesticides organic growers use. Why don't you mention them? Is monsanto the only word you know? You have shown what kind of specialist you are telling lies and spreading misinformation. Do you know anything about Bt?

    • +David Adcock @Popeye Gordon So, the two most active pro-GMO commenters on this video and neither of you has advanced be it just one counter argument against mine. Both of you just try to lure the subject towards monsanto while defending them like fanboys, but none of you seem to be able to formulate an anti-thesis. Are you going to make an effort? Or is this all you can do? Because so far, and seeing your activity in the feed, you both just look like paid employees spreading lies they were told to with nothing to back them up, or ignorant nutjobs with no understanding of the matter, no analysis skill, and no debating skills. Which does not scream "i can understand GMO" the slightest.

  • There should be something bigger than upvote for these outstanding videos

  • The add at the beginning of this video was literally advertising herbicides. Sorry, what? 🤨

    • If you learned anything at all from this you know all herbicides are not bad.

  • Humans are ignorant, afraid of what they cannot understand, GMO it’s our future and we have to accept it. It’s time we abandon our “naturalist” tastes and embrace a new alimentation safer for our environment.

    • We have one. The international Codex Alimentarius standard.

  • Its amazing how many things we can do to save this world, but almost every way is stopped or being ignored by humans

  • PERMACULTURE is the cure! Not GMO...

    • +Duke Steele The group you suggested I join is a cluster fuck mess of trolls. You will have to see it to believe it. What a bunch of asshole shitbag kids. You invited me, how about a little help?

    • Low productivity solutions such as permaculture have their place, mainly in tropical ecosystems, but does not replace intensive agriculture.

    • Nope. If your niche farming method was in fact better, all farmers would immediately adopt it. They are not stupid, they use what works best.

  • bravo

  • ja kradite drzavata lopovi....

  • This video is psychotic and how untrue it is. I am so convinced that is 100% paid for by big Pharma.

  • “Pest shield 9000”

  • Isn't It Weird That After Everything People Debate Over We Find Big Companies Who Pulls The Strings? Weird Must Be A Conspiracy.

  • As always, it's not a simple yes and no answer. The real problem isn't genetic modification as such, but the fact that companies are allowed to hold patents on genes and hide the results of experiments behind trade secrets. This makes it hard or impossible to check their work, to verify safety or efficacy, etc.

    • +Tristan Band --China allows patents and intellectual property protection.

    • +Popeye Gordon My position is hardly radical or insane. Like it or not, intellectual property will eventually go the way of the dodo. China seems to get on fine without it.

    • +Tristan Band Ah ha! This dullard now confesses here in a public venue that he intentionally engages in willful ignorance. Gotcha! But that last sentence is really off the wall unintelligible, servers have nothing to do with agencies who grant patents. Internet ACCESS always requires technology that had to be patent protected so it is as I asserted, no patents? No internet access.

    • +Popeye Gordon And I think it is entirely unnecessary to technological progress, inimical to it. My teachers taught me the same thing you are teaching me now; as I got older, I realized it was bullshit. Most of the internet's servers run some form of open-source Unix, software patents are very recent, and the internet started as a government project; hence not allowed to file for patents.

    • +Tristan Band You use a computer and internet and software that could not have have existed without patent protections to protect the huge investments of development. Without patents there is no motivation for putting a moment's thought or a single penny into new inventions. The patent system made us the most powerful nation on Earth. Your grade school educators failed to teach you this.

  • People who are anti gmo are really only protesting modifying them for being resistant to herbicide because herbicide over time being exposed and it polluting the earth can had adverse effects that are unknown or linked to various neurological diseases. This is why people are organic because while all of our food are essentially gmo now, organic promises not to use herbicide. So gmos are good! Just the way they are being used to make money from pesticide companies is bad and people want to avoid it. Organic is still a good thing!

    • David Adcock well I’d like some examples of which organic products those are. Not because I don’t believe you but I’m basically building a list of products that I personally would stick to buying. I’m not opposed to gmos totally, but they only really use them for profit. Not for the benefit of our health and society.... yet c: which is why I hope buying organic will give them that push to use gmos for the better. It also freaks me out a little bit knowing what it could do to our genetics later down the road. I feel like it has an effect on our long term health.

    • Popeye Gordon but the thing is, the herbicide that includes glyphosate still includes ingredients that they do not have to list for the public. And glyphosate still causes long term problems. It may not be toxic now, but later down the road cause issues in our nervous system that we’re never there before. It usually takes a long time to actually see what a chemical does for the long term in our genetics. Only reason I’m concerned. I think there’s a possibility that gmos are connected to depression. Not saying this is a for sure thing but it is possible. I suffer from that myself so I wonder 🤔

  • Glyphosate causes cancer.

  • This iscool

  • Excellent video! But what about the dangers of lack of biodiversity and monoculture? It wasn't addressed in that video. I would have liked to learn more about it!

    • +Simon Hamelin-Pratte All modern farming prioritizes only a few breeds of a species at a time. Actually, most farming does that, has been for thousands of years. The confusion is usually equivocating biodiversity with monocultures. Polycultures are rarer because they are not easy to harvest mechanically, but farmers do rotate their crops. The biodiversity of nature remains fine. In actuality, GMOs actually help in biodiversity of nature because GMOs are looking to use the farmland efficiently--more yield per acre. That means less need to expand your field and actually ruin biodiversity.

    • +DeadFishFactory Not necessarily. GMO (and traditional artificial selection) prioritizes only one breed (or a few) of a species at a time. This can lead to massive epidemics in a population, and other collateral effects.

    • That's a problem for modern farming in general, not an issue special to GMOs.

  • My main problem with GMOs is the way companies can abuse them

    • +Francis Friesen That's what GMO science is, dumbass. It is evolving even now with the new CRISPR technology that is more precise and fast.

    • +Francis Friesen Who the fuck do you think you are fooling? You came here to deeply insult our hard working farmers and scientists. You spit in the faces of farmers using the best seed available for your benefit. You bite the hand that feeds you, asshole. I will always defend honest people from liar trolls who spread toxic lies with malicious intent.

    • Popeye Gordon I don't mean backwards from capitalism- I mean something new we need to keep innovating

    • Popeye Gordon Why so mean 😥

  • Why not label though?

    • +Francis Friesen Like I said Francis If you can read then you know if you are buying with gmo technology products but you do not have that same luxury with radiation induced mutagenesis organic crops. No need for organic foods to be labelled to tell you when they are breed with radiation induced mutagenesis, 2400 organic crops owe their origin to Mutagenesis. Why do you only want gmo technology crops and any products that sources any ingredient derived form a gmo technology crops to be labeled? We all have a right to know don't we?

    • David Adcock It's easy to know if something is GMO and then label it.

    • No need for organic foods to be labelled to tell you when they are breed with radiation induced mutagenesis, 2400 organic crops owe their origin to Mutagenesis. Why do you only want gmo technology crops and any products that sources any ingredient derived form a gmo technology crops to be labeled? We all have a right to know don't we?

  • As someone who has worked in and studied genetics and related fields... The whole "Are GMOs safe or not?" debate is dumb. Like, really dumb. Let me present you a similar dumb question that's dumb for the same reasons.... "Are governments safe or not?" Hopefully that makes it clear. If not, I will explain. GMOs take alot of resources to make (like a government), many powerful people have the ability to impact their creation (like a government), it grants a strong level of control to something by the people controlling the process (like a government), is generally not available to those with a normal pocket book (like a government), can be used for horrible things (like creating Military grade Anthrax or ... well... military grade anthrax), or can be used for something that makes our lives all better (like government funded healthcare or super-nutritious corn), it's also possible to make horrible mistakes (like a government ruining a water supply or killing bees due to crop engineered to kill insects.... like polinating bees). Saying all GMOs are good or bad would be like saying all governments are good or bad. Some companies are responsible with their process, others (*cough*Monsanto*cough*) care only about their bottom line and are not responsible in their pursuit of cash and lets not go into detail about military applications.

    • More nonsense than fact. You have a distorted view of what is reality. At least half of all GMO seed today is given away free to struggling farmers by NGOs and government seed programs. Profit is never a topic for condemning GMO crops or vendors, you can name NO farmers or seed companies that operate for no profit. They all, without exception, have a bottom line so that is completely irrelevant. Yes, let's not abuse this venue to continue the organic foods cartel fear mongering campaign by falsely dishonestly mentioning "military applications". That one completely destroyed any credibility you tried to convey. Bees are under intense scrutiny and the fact is that globally, in 2019, bee populations are in good shape over all. Hive numbers are at a 20 year high in the US. You also extremely twisted the Flint water supply issue by implying there was an intentional willful "ruining of a water supply" intentionally when in fact it was just insufficient infrastructure upgrades due to a skinny budget. Citations on request.

  • If they only had this during the irish potato famine

    • That incident has influenced all seed and diversity strategies ever since.

  • Liked because the pest shield is OVER 9000!

  • 3:14 Flat Earthieers: Thwtz nooot pooof! Ur wond! Bely wond! Tee errrtha es flot!

  • As long as it doesn't kill the unsects that are vital to certain ecosystems.

  • imagine all life is gone and one GMO survived and can go on for years even for decades and multiply itself so life goes on either way...

    • Dumb comment. If all life is gone that would include GMO crops which have to be replanted each year. What is vastly more likely is cockroaches and soil insects and some species in the sea survive and re-establish a new order of life. But if we stop being so stupid the only way that could happen is solar flare or asteroid impact.

  • The Pest Shield for the corn is OVER 9000!!!

  • ITS OVER 9000!!!!!

  • Instead of modifying food and humans, modify pests and virus with Terminator Gene first...

    • We need to modify both pests and crops with genetic science. Virus is handled with vaccines. We already have the GMO sterile male mosquito that can not fertilize a female, it tries but she won't lay viable eggs. Soon similar science will be applied to other insect pests.

  • This is an amazing work! Great job on making the video and for all the conclusions and take-home messages. GMOs are the only thing that could save us from all the damaging production habits that big companies have implanted but also to give all of us humans more balance in terms of equally distributed resources and to control all the harm we are doing to our planet.
